A Japanese Amerasian's Journey from the Caspian Sea to Vietnam
I watch a lot of Japanese Drama so I am familiar with several of the actresses nominated below at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize. I watched Nagasawa Masami in Sanada Maru and Our Little Sister. I watched Hirose Suzu for the first time in Our Little Sister as well.
Our Little Sister is one of the first Japanese films I enjoyed watching. I actually rewatch this film to see how much more Japanese I can comprehend.
Nagasawa Masami won her second consecutive Best Actress award.

Guess what is on Netflix now? Age of Samurai will look at the historical battles of the Sengoku Period in Japan. The first season looks at the rise of Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. I am curious to see if my ancestor and namesake for my website, Matsunaga Hisahide, will be in this docuseries. The trailer is below.
Just recently, a popular drama known as Taiga in Japan, finished a series that took place in the same time period. Kirin ga kuru looks at the life of Akechi Mitsuhide. It is interesting to watch both series at the same time.
I did not expect that I would like this film. I even stopped playing it after about 20 minutes to do something. When I came back, I watched it all the way through. The Brightest Rood in the Universe is a good film. Good soundtrack as well. Kaya Kiyohara is making her mark in the Japanese film scene. I have grown to like her acting style.

Tsubame (Kaya Kiyohara) is a 14-year-old girl. She has a crush on university student Toru (Kentaro Ito), who lives in the same neighborhood. Tsubame lives in a warm environment with her father Toshio (Hidetaka Yoshioka) and stepmother Asako (Maki Sakai), but, one day, she learns that Asako is pregnant. She feels left out because of her stepmother’s pregnancy and she also feels frustrated because she can’t reveal her love to Toru. The rooftop of her calligraphy class is the only place where Tsubame can find solace. There, she feels the wind and looks up at the stars.
One night, Tsubame goes on the rooftop as usual. She finds a strange kickboard scooter and a mysterious old woman Hoshi-baa (Kaori Momoi) appears in front of her.

Well the site is back online. I will have to rewrite some of the articles I wrote with my last Ghost site. Ghost is an awesome CMS but I really need to focus on speed and better maintenance. Hence I am using WordPress now, the CMS I have used since March, 2006.
